24/7 Emergency Care in Olney and Milton Keynes

Jarden Vets’ Out of Hours service is exclusively for patients registered to our practice. To register your animal companions, please call us during our opening hours, or register online. Your animal companion will need to be registered with Jarden Vets ahead of using our Emergency 24/7 Care Service as we must have their medical records available.

We regularly see emergency cases from Milton Keynes, Olney, Newport Pagnell and surrounding areas.

What is a Veterinary Emergency?

  • A veterinary emergency can encompass a range of situations, including but not limited to:
  • Vomiting or diarrhoea with blood
  • Convulsions (fitting)
  • Abdominal swelling with attempts to vomit
  • Ingestion of a foreign material such as a plastic toy, medications, poison, etc. please keep all packaging of ingested items and bring it with you if you are asked to attend the surgery.
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Deep cuts/burns
  • Bite wounds
  • Injuries to eyes
  • Road traffic accident, falling from heights
  • Sudden collapse or paralysis (loss of use of limbs)
  • Unable to pass urine (especially seen in male cats); sometimes this shows as repeated straining in the litter tray.
  • Rabbits or Guinea Pigs that are unwilling to eat or do not produce faeces over a 12-24 hour period
  • Uncontrollable bleeding
  • Pregnant companions unable to pass their puppies or kittens, or with green, brown or smelly discharge.
